Cincinnati Entertainment Awards 2006 Music Nominees Announced

We’ll have a couple of posts today for our non-existent Arts & Music Blog (wink wink). First up, we wanted to let you all know about the local music nominees for this year’s Cincinnati Entertainment Awards.

The noms were announced last night, projected on the wall at the old Jefferson Hall (dubbed J-Hall for MidPoint weekend) during CityBeat’s 7 p.m. “Starting Point” party, which featured a great solo set by the always-riveting Erika Wennerstrom from the Heartless Bastards. It was awesome to watch the packed-in-like-sardines party-goers dim down to a hush and set aside their free munchies once Erika opened her mouth and unleashed that otherworldly voice of hers. It was also cool to see a bunch of musicians staring at the wall to see if their names popped up during the CEA slide show.

Below is the list of nominees. The ballot is on-line now and will be printed in the next edition of CityBeat as well. We had a larger pool of judges this year, so we expanded the nominees to up to six per category, and even more in the “Critical Achievement” categories, which will be voted on by the nominating committee. Save the date: the CEAs are being moved to a Sunday this year (Nov. 19), returning to the Taft Theater for the ceremony’s 10th anniversary blowout.
