Blues Fest: Now and Then

This weekend, Blues fans will be invading the Mainstrasse district of Covington for the second annual Winter BluesFest. Local Blues acts will perform at various venues in the area on Friday and Saturday night (starting at 8 p.m.); a one-time $5 cover will get you into all of the shows. Last year’s event drew around 2000 revelers. Here are the performers and the venues that will host them each night:

Cock & Bull English Pub – II Juicy

Cosmo’s Grill Pub – Them Bones

Fat Shannon’s Irish Pub – The Lane/Sauer Duo

MainStrasse Village Pub – Full Throttle Blues Band

Mulligan’s Pub – Malkum Gibson & The Mighty Juke

Otto’s – The Blues Merchants

Pachinko – H-Bomb’s Medicine Men

Strasse Haus – The Sonny Moorman Group

Zola – Phil Blank Blues Band

Zazou – Sweet Alice Hoskins & Unfinished Business

Meanwhile, the Cincy Blues Society has just announced that the successful Cincy Blues Fest will be back at Sawyer Point this summer for its 15th year. The event is scheduled for Aug. 3 and 4 and again will showcase some top-notch local, regional and national Blues talent. The “Boogie Woogie Piano Stage,” “Acoustic Stage,” “Gospel Stage” and, introduced last year, “Local Stage,” will all be returning.
