Cincinnati native and current guitarist for Indie Rock darlings The National (based in Brooklyn), Bryce Dessner, recently got in touch to say that the avant/chamber music festival he helped curate last year at the Contemporary Arts Center is coming back again this year. Dessner, who also plays with Clogs (one of the performers at last year’s event), says MusicNOW is scheduled for April 5, 6 and 7 in its new locale, Over-the-Rhine’s Memorial Hall (next to Music Hall).

The gorgeous new theatre setting will host some great special guests for this year’s MusicNOW. Dessner says Indie wunderkind Sufjan Stevens (with whom Dessner has been touring and recording with) has been confirmed, as well as Clogs (with special guest singers and new material), Brooklyn’s My Brightest Diamond (soon to be touring with The Decemberists), Amiina (an Icelandic string quartet known for their work with Sigur Ros), Czech experimental duo Irena and Vojtech Havlova and Flamenco guitarist Pedro Soler.

And fans of The National will be happy to know that Dessner hasn’t been too busy with MusicNOW to finish work on his “other band’s” new album. Dessner says the members of The National hope to be finished with the album this week; the release is due in stores May 21.

Keep an eye on the Chamber Music Cincinnati Web site for MusicNOW ticket details, which should be announced soon.
