Local Music, National Spotlight

Some local musicians are getting some national attention today.

• Cincinnati-based rockers Lorenzo are reporting that they will have their song “I Think About Sex” featured on tonight’s episode of Shark on CBS (the song is currently receiving national airplay, including in Cincinnati on WEBN). The Eye Network must have a thing for Lorenzo — their song “The Breaking” was used on CBS’s Threshold. Wanna go say, “Dudes, I heard you on the TV!”? Lorenzo are a part of this Saturday’s Toys for Tots benefit at the Southgate House.

• The nominees for the Grammys were announced this morning. No “official” local bands were nominated, but Patrick Keeler and Jack Lawrence of The Greenhornes received two nods as a part of The Raconteurs. The group (which also features that White Stripes fella, Jack White, and Pop singer/songwriter Brendan Benson) is up for Best Rock Album, up against some obscure avant garde artists like Tom Petty and Neil  Young. The Racs are also nominated in the Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal category for their “Steady As She Goes” song, which goes up against The Fray’s “How to Save a Life,” “Talk” by Coldplay, “Dani California” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and “The Saints Are Coming” by U2 and Green Day.
